Its been a while, but I got another Influenster box! This one was the Rose VoxBox for fall and had many products in it. One of my absolute favorites was the Rimmel London Retro Glam Mascara.

When I first opened it I was really surprised at how large the tube was. It is very very wide. I opened it to see that the brush is a soft brisstle brush and kind of curved, where it flares out some at either end and is skinny in the middle. The first time I used it it was really ackward and cumbersome trying to figure out how to hold such a large handle, but after that first time I've had no issues.

I have to say that I'm in love with this mascara! Its given me great coverage, and umph to my lashes that many others don't. It goes on smoothly and in one coat, and I've not had any issues with clumping! It stays on all day, even when I accidentally rub my eye, I barely get flakes! It washes off pretty easily at night though which is another thing I love about this. Once this runs out I will be buying more! This mascara will be coming out in stores in the US this November 2013!!
One of the biggest pieces to the puzzle we are still struggling with to this day. My Nana was adopted, we have her original birth certificate and know her biological parents names. My mom wrote to the adoption agency (its one of the largest, Children's Home Society, and still around) and all they would give us is 'non discript' information on my Nana's biological family. Thankfully we have the original birth certificate, and the information the agency did provide let us know how many siblings that the bio parents had, and that my Nana's maternal grandma died at only 47 of a broken hip.

We are 99.9% sure we found my Nana's bio dad's family on Ancestry.com. I've even emailed who we assume to be the niece of my 'greatgrandpa' and she said she' would look for more information...that was over a year ago now. We found out that my Nana's biological father had two other children the first born 12 years after my Nana was born. My mom found an old address for one of the children and wrote a letter...that was over a year ago and no reply. We are now at a dead end with this side of the family.

On my Nana's bio mothers side we haven't gotten anywhere, it seems her biological mother's name may not be accurate on the birth certificate. The last couple years spent digging on Ancestry.com has turned up nothing. We do know that 'greatgrandma' had 4 older brothers and one younger sister, and that her mother died at age 47. According to the birth certificate my Nana's bio mom was 24 years old in 1934, putting her born around 1910 and it says she was born in Nebraska. We also know that Nana's bio mom had one child born before Nana. Nana has siblings out there still, from what we've seen the two her bio dad had years later are still alive as there are no death certificates on Ancestry.com (like there is for my Nana).

We really want to get into contact with this side of the family to figure out more about my medical issues. I'm taking to my blog, and hoping that I can get the word spread. We are looking for any relatives of my Nana.
I have an awesome 3.75 GPA, but it feels like its all for not. I've been sitting here the last 3 days trying to decide what to get my degree in. Its crunch time and I need to figure it out. I started with the intentions of getting an AAS in IT but it turned out that they had specific classes at specific times a day, and that just wouldn't work due to having Kieran at home all day still (and daycare would cost more then what I'd get in FinAid a semester). When I found out about that in Feb I was pretty irked, I'd already spent 2 semesters working towards the prereq's for that, and was almost in the middle of the 3rd semester. I then decided to do Medical Admin Assistant, and recently thought harder about that and its just not for me, one I'm worried about the possibility of constant movement with that job or lifting.

I got to looking at the degrees and what I've completed and saw that I could get an AS in Secondary Education and have it done by Fall of 2014, which is a semester sooner then what the MAA would've been. I stupidly dropped all my classes I was registered with and signed up for the Edu ones, now I'm back to not knowing what to do. Going the teaching route, while it may work for my physical limitations it will take another 4-5yrs to be done and thousands of more dollars since I'm almost out of pell grant.

Having a physical disability is making this harder then it should be. Every time I think "Ok I'm going to get this degree," a few days later I realize the physical limitations that come with me and wont work. I also have a huge fear of graduating and not being able to find a decent paying job (that covers daycare + health insurance + student loan payments) and being completely screwed. Wish this was all easier. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08006044439701986326noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4428343842823794324.post-23201790760417680232013-07-07T21:21:00.000-07:002013-07-07T21:21:44.127-07:00Question timeToday I blog a question in hopes someone out there reading has an answer! (hehe) I used to find and post giveaways on Prizey, but earlier this year (or end of last year?) they shut down. I've been looking for months, and finally gave up, on finding some place similar to them. I recently found a small blog hop but each of the giveaways had thousands of entrants, so I figured there has to be a giveaway listing site like Prizey out there. Now my question to anyone out there...
Our 4th townhome duplex...as you can imagine with legs like mine thats not a good mixture. So again last Feb (2012) we moved in here with a 6mo lease thinking that when it was up we'd sign one more 6mo lease and move in Feb 2013 into a house or one floor duplex. Our plans didn't work out, in July of last year they sent us a letter raising our rent by $30/mo and we either had to sign a 1yr lease or move out then, moving wasn't an option at the time so we were stuck. Now fast forward to July of this year and our lease is up on the 31st. So I've been looking the last month for a place.

I cannot believe the rent prices now, everything seems to have gone up at least $100-200/mo its crazy! On top of the rent increases more then 75% of the things in our price range (which is comparable to the price of a mortgage most my friends have) are all townhouses or apartments, neither of which we can or will do. I've found a handful of houses or one floor duplexes in our price range...the catch they almost all want First, Last and Deposit ....just to move in it would cost us $2625 that ain't gonna happen! A friend of mine was shocked to hear that the deposits are the same as a months rent everywhere she's rented its been half a months rent (not for us, in the 8yrs hubby and I have been together every place we've lived has been a full months amount deposit).

I did find one place that seemed nice and a fit, but the catch we have is that we can only pay the deposit on July 5th and then give a 30 day notice (the deposit would be paid with what we would've paid for July rent here, but wouldn't have to because we paid last months rent when we moved in here) and then not move in or pay first months rent till August and the management company said the owner wouldn't go for it since the place had been vacant for a month already he wouldn't let to go another month. UGH. I'm stressed with this and at this point we're going to be stuck signing another year lease (only option they'll give us) in a townhouse thats not safe for me. Not only is there the issue of the stairs for me but our back yard isn't fenced. We live in a town house condo track and all the backyards run together. We have random kids running and playing behind our house at 9am (and our kids are in bed by pm) or later, and they all seem to think that our toys are free range, tired of it. The house hunt game SUCKS!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08006044439701986326noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4428343842823794324.post-83858402556195789302013-06-01T20:01:00.000-07:002013-06-02T19:59:53.916-07:00A quick look at meI don't think I've gone into much detail (I'd have to go back and look) about my issues. Honestly its taken me quite a while to not be embarresed that at 24 I had to start using a cane (well actually I'm SUPPOSED to use a walker) and leg braces. Finally 2yrs later I'm in a little better place in my head about it. Theres nothing I can do, no cures, and its just how I am and I have to learn to accept it even more then where I'm at today. Anyway I want to share two video's with my readers.

This first one was done in July of 2011 so basically 2yrs ago
This one was done tonight. I've been in quite a bit of pain lately, especially in my shoulder and neck as well.
Its been hectic dealing with the kids and myself lately. Firstly Seamus has not been his normal self at all and we've been having to go to the doctor once a month just to do more checks and med checks and trying to figure things out. He also lost his IBI therapy because he's not considered disabled by the federal government (i.e. he doesn't qualify for SSI so he's not disabled :/) and we've been having to figure all that out and find a way to get it back for him.

On top of Seamus' stuff I had another appt with the MDA and she still doesn't agree with the NeuroMuscular SPECIALIST that I saw in December. At first she agreed but then because I don't have scapular winging she said she doesn't think I have FSHD, but everything fits other then that (again :/). So now she wants me getting a DNA test done to see what it says, thing is its over $1500 for it and even with the financial assistance from Athena Diagnostics it will cost me basically $400 that I don't have and can't come up with, so that test is out the window and I'm in diagnosis limbo yet again. Right now I'm sticking with the FSHD diagnosis that I got back in December (not sure if I posted about that, one day I may).

I'm also starting to have more troubles with my shoulder and its becoming worrisome. To top it all off my leg braces broke back in April. I took a step off my front porch (about 2" high) I heard a snap and my knee gave out and next thing I knew I was on the ground. I narrowly missed hitting my head on my car. My left leg brace completely snapped in half and I have no way to get another (as they're $250 each through the local orthipedists office, but I have to see a doctor (more $$, yay being insuranceless!) to get a new script since mine is 2yrs old), and of course the one that broke is the one for the leg that has the worse complete paralysis foot drop (not that the right is much better at a 1/5 score 0 being completely not functional).
So thats a rundown of whats been going on here! Hopefully some better updates soon. And lets cross fingers that Idaho steps up and extends medicaid so maybe I can actually see the doctors I need! (cause no way we can afford hubbys work insurance that with premiums and deductibles costs about half his yearly income!)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08006044439701986326noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4428343842823794324.post-40886018669625822492013-05-23T20:55:00.001-07:002013-05-23T21:00:13.932-07:00AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® Intensive Night Cream ReviewI love Influenster so much. Getting to try and review new products to share with my readers, and family/friends, is something I love to do and really fun for me. Recently I got to review a new product from Aveeno, the Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream.

I was a little iffy about trying it. The last face cream that I tried broke me out, even though I thought it was a gentle cream. When I finally worked up enough courage to try the Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream, I was glad I did.

The first time I used it I took a shower and cleaned off my face. I then patted it dry, washed my hair to let my face dry a little more. I then used the night cream. I put WAY too much on that first time. I quickly learned a little goes a long way with this. To my surprise no burning feeling, no breakouts, nada. I went to bed right after I put it on and when I woke my face seemed to feel a little softer then normal. I kept using the cream after each shower at night and slept in it, never broke out and my face felt and looked great, I did see a little less blotchiness with it. I'm sadly having a break from the cream right now due to a hormonal break out that I don't want to, on the off chance, aggravate more.
(closed)A couple months ago I had the privilege of getting one of Influensters Naturals Vox Box. I was honored to win two of the Badge prizes one from LypSyl and one from Shea Moisture. My prizes just came in the mail this week so I wanted to share them with my blog readers and spread the love of winning :D

The Shea Moisture prize was super awesome! It had a body wash, lotion, and 3 face care items. I tried the body wash already today and I still feel soft a few hours later! I'm in love with Shea Moisture's products.

I really like LypSyl's line of lip moisturizers. In my prize package I received a Cold Sore relief, and two intense protection moisturizers. Its super long lasting and doesn't bother my mouth like other beeswax products do. I also really love the smell of it.
So Kieran and I sat down and watched a couple of the clips. I was amazed at how many different choices that Dino Lingo offers for languages. Dino Lingo had the 'normal' languages you see in children's learning programs like Spanish or French, but they also had Irish Gaelic, Japanese, Korean and many more! Kieran and I watched 3 of the clips, the French, Irish Gaelic and Spanish ones. She loved watching the little dinosaur and would giggle when she saw him. For me watching the Spanish one was easier to talk with her about since I knew what it was saying and how to say the words (lol), but I think that hearing and seeing the others was pretty awesome even for an adult. We really liked watching the clips, the nice thing is that they repeat the words multiple times and put the words on the screen, and its clearly spoken.

Here's a look at some of the video clips we watched, complementary from Dino Lingo and Influenster:
I'm not normally one to use lotions or moisturizers on my skin because I have super oily cheeks, nose and chin and break out A LOT (adult acne sucks!) so trying these was something I wasn't too sure about. The first thing I did when I opened the bottles up was smell them, hehe! I really liked that there was no overwhelming smell to them. I remember my grandmas face creams always making me gag due to the smell, so to have a face cream/lotion that doesn't have a strong smell was wonderful! Before I even put them on my face I rubbed each one into my hand. I was surprised to see that they weren't super thick lotions like I was expecting. Once I got over my fear about a break out I tried the Cleansing Lotion on my cheeks. I was very excited and surprised that #1 I didn't look oily, and #2 I didn't break out after using it! It was very smooth going in, felt almost like water. Then I tried the night cream. I have a pretty dry area between my eyebrows and middle forehead so I rubbed some in there before bead. Again NO Breakouts! It was awesome. I'm really liking the Boots No7 products and they are something that I normally would never get on my own so I'm really glad that Influenster and Boots sent me some to try!
I'm still "new" to the world of makeup so I get a little leery to try new eye products when I'm still learning how to use them. I was really excited to see this in my box even with been a little nervous to try it. I normally stray away from eye shadow because I'm always afraid that I'll use too much and look like a clown, haha. In the past couple months I've become a little more adventurous in trying eye shadows after watching some videos on how to do it the "right" way.

One of the things I love about the NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact, is that it has different shades to create different looks with. The palate also has some 'how to' directions on the back for people not as experienced, like me, on how to do the makeup. There's lighter greys, medium greys and a dark almost black. You could easily do a light daytime look or a dramatic night look all with this little palate. Another thing that I loved about this palate is that you don't need a whole bunch of the eye shadow for it to show. The palate also has a primer to put on before you do any shadow color. The primer is a little thicker then the other kind that I normally use, but once it was rubbed in it really didn't matter that it was thicker. I loved that there is the 'how to' guide on the palate but I also loved that you can create any look that you like from this simple palate! A bonus, is the price...You get 4 shadow colors, the highlighter and the primer for under $5!
Here's the look I created with the NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact
At first I was a little unsure about them since I only have shoulder length hair, and my hair doesn't like to cooperate with me. The Spin Pin's were the first things that I opened from the box and gave them a whirl. It was surprisingly easy to get them in. I really thought I would get frustrated like other 'bun up-do' products I've tried. Even with my short hair I was able to get both the pins into my hair. The bun wasn't perfect looking as tiny parts of my hair would stick out but they still held it together. I was able to shake my head around, do some exercising and it still held my hair up. I'm in love with these pins and plan to get another set here soon!
I have been part of Influenster for around a year now and have loved every minute of it. I have been able to try and review some wonderful products, some I've never heard of till Influenster. Recently Influenster re-launched their site. The new site is WONDERFUL! Its extremely clean and crisp, and very easy to navigate. At first, like all change, I was very nervous about the new site but it fared better then I expected. With the launch of the new site Influencer can invite people to become part of Influenster. Each Influencer can invite up to 5 people at this time.
So what are you waiting for go check it out and see how you like it!Justine/SnKmommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02565477937169954850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4428343842823794324.post-23431959576558580382012-10-15T09:28:00.003-07:002012-10-15T09:30:04.539-07:00LypSyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizer™ - ReviewAnother awesome item that I received in my Naturals VoxBox from Influenster was the LypSyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizer™. I'm always a little worried to try products that are made with anything from Bee's as I'm allergic and another big name company's products makes me break out.

When I tried the LypSyl I was surprised at how smooth feeling it was, it wasn't a hard like other lip products can be. I also loved the size and style of the container, the little bee on the side of it to push it up and down is a cute unique touch! I am IN LOVE with this product now! It lasts for hours unlike other products I've tried before. I was able to get a good 4 hours before I would need to put on some more. I also love to put it on at night before bed and wake up to nice smooth lips instead of dry cracked ones. I even talked hubby into putting some on and he liked the feeling and how smooth it made his lips. I have shown quite a few of my friends the LypSyl and they think that its a neat product as well.
But the last few months I've decided to start being more adventurous with makeup and start wearing it more then a hand full of times a year. I discovered E.L.F, Eyes Lips Face, at Target one day and was very happy to see it was in my price range. Everything was between $1-10 so that was pretty nice. I fell in love with their Clarifying powder, covered up all my blemishes and stupid adult acne pretty nicely. Last month E.L.F had one of their Mystery Bag promotions that if you bought $20 worth of products you would get $20 Mystery Bag free. I was super excited and jumped on it. Sooooo here is what I bought....

I bought 3 Clarifying Powders in Light Beige, 2 lipsticks in Charming, an eye widening eye liner and a Brightening Eye Liner in coffee, an eye brow brush, eye brow stencils for shaping, eyelash curler, zit zapper, Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in Rosy Beige, a pressed powder in Caramel, duo eyeshadow in olive and two nail polishes one in Mint Creme and the other Royal Purple.

Not everything I bought was for me, my mom's 44th birthday is on November 1st so some of this is for her birthday present (one clarifying powder, a lipstick, the coffee eye liner, and the eye shadow). Everything I bought was only $1 except for the pressed powder which was $3 and the nail polishes were $2/ea.

Now for the Mystery Bag!.....

I was pretty happy with my Mystery Bag. In the bag I got a pair of false lashes $1 (can't wear due to my glasses though), a nail polish in pearl $2, a Flat Eye Liner Brush that is from their Mineral Line and is $5, Studio Lip Liner & Blending Brush in Fuchsia $3, a smoothing lip balm in Blackberry Crème $1, lotion wipes in sweet mango $3, a mineral eye shadow in smoldering $3, and shimmer sheets in bronze $3...mystery bag total of $21! I love everything in the bag, especially the smoothing lip balm! The only things I can't make use of are the false lashes due to my glasses and the shimmer sheets because they are too dark for my skin tone, but I love everything else.

Check out E.L.F. and their awesome products! You can find them online and I've also found them at my local Walgreens and Target and I've heard some dollar stores carry it!

And stay tuned....I may just have a giveaway (self sponsored) up my sleeves!

Disclaimer: I bought these products with my own money, this is not a sponsored post. These views are 100% my own.

I was given the chance to try some new candy from bzzAgent and Unreal Candy. I love me some candy so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try something new. The thing that really caught my eye about this candy is that its "unjunked" there are no corn syrups, hydrogenated fats, GMOs, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. Unreal, instead, uses real products like; real cane sugar, real milk, peanuts, and cacao.

We have tried 4 of the 5 different kinds of Unreal candy so far. We've tried the Chocolate Candy Shell Peanuts #54, the Chocolate Candy Shell #41, the Chocolate Caramel Nougat #5, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter #77 and we have liked them all. The only one that we haven't tried yet is the Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat #8 so far. My kids are in love with #54 and #41, they think the colors are awesome and that they taste just as good if not better then the "name brand" type of similar products. I am very very partical to the #5, it tastes way better then the "name brand" product that it is similar to and I could probaly eat it every day. The #77 was ok, it wasn't our favorite but it wasn't horrible either.

The first thing I noticed about UN #54 and #41 was the color. The colors aren't the normal IN YOUR FACE look at me I'm bright colors that we here in the US are used to, instead the colors are darker. There are no artificial colors in these so if you can't eat artificial colors but like candy these may be a good option for you! I really liked the fact that the artificial colors were removed. It really reminded me of candy that I've seen from England where artificial colors are banned.

Over all I really liked these candies and I am planning to buy some more! I have found these at my local Walgreen's and Staples stores here in North Idaho. You can also find them at CVS, Michael's, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Kroger, Ralphs, Rite Aid, Haggen, Top food and drug, and BJ's. Unreal is also coming soon to Target stores sometime in October!

Here are some pictures of what UN #54, #41 and #5 look like and of Miss. Kieran eating some!
This was the item I was most excited to try since I've never tried a bar soap for the kids before.

I'm in love with this soap! I've been using it on my Kieran for the last 2 weeks and I wish I've had it for the last 3 years.

The packaging was very nice and simple, and super easy to open and didn't rip apart or stick to the soap like other brands of bar soaps. The first thing0 that I noticed, after opening it, was the smell of the soap. The smell is a nice soft Shea smell and not overpowering like other soaps. When I put it in the washcloth I was very surprised at how quickly it lathered up. A little goes along way with this soap and its awesome. Most bar soaps that I've tried you have to work up a lather for a minute or two and sometimes it doesn't even stay, not this soap it was nice an foamy the entire time! We love this soap.
This box was the Naturals box, filled with all natural and/or organic products. Here is a shot of what I got in my box. I will be posting a blog post of a few of the products here soon!
After 2 EMG's, and an MRI my neurologists have figured out that I have a Myopathy (neuromuscular disease) and one of the Neurologists I saw is leaning towards a form of Muscular Dystrophy, but there are quite a few different myopathy's and my issues fit into a couple of them. Its looking like the only way to tell for sure which it is, and if there are any treatments (highly unlikely) or ways to help slow the disease down and prolong what use of my legs that I have left, is to do a muscle biopsy. I'm a little freaked out by that but its looking to be the only thing that can tell, well at least the 'cheapest' thing (genetic testing could tell but its upwards of $16,000 for a full genetic panel to be done, and with so many diseases they couldn't really narrow it down too much). So my goal is to have a definitive diagnosis by my birthday in March.

Other then that I requested a B12 and Creatinine test to be ran. Both came back lower then the low cut off, but not quite to the deficient point. The range for the B12 is 900-245, mine is a 235. The Creatinine is 1- 0.5 mine is 0.44. I did however find out that I was supposed to have fasted before those tests, which I wasn't notified of by my neuro or the lab tech so I don't know how off the levels could be. I ended up getting a B12 shot and am taking a 2500mcg supplement a day, we're just hoping that the low Creatinine level is due to the low B12 level. They also did a test for anemia and that came back just fine (there is a B12 related anemia that can cause the issues that I have so they were ruling that out because that is deadly if left untreated).

Sorry for the slow posting on my blog. Earlier this year I started having hand problems (meaning my upper limbs are starting to become affected) and there are some days it hurts to even do my homework let alone post a blog post. I try to post at least once a month!Justine/SnKmommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02565477937169954850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4428343842823794324.post-12964817120663309732012-07-20T21:33:00.001-07:002012-07-20T21:37:13.207-07:00Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies ReviewIn part of the summer Influenster's Mom VoxBox there was a Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookie for me or the kids to try.
I'm not a fake nail person so I wasn't exactly excited for this in my box. I decided to give them a try for a big BBQ we were having, just to add a little flair.
Took about 20 minutes to get them all sized to my fingers and put on. They were pretty quick and easy to put on, though I did have a couple that were hard to peal off the backing on.
They stayed on wonderfully though a shoping trip with 2 young kids and while washing dishes, as well as throughout the party.

Its nice that they are a shorter length so they don't get in the way but my nail beds are quite long so the nails weren't any longer then my natural fingernail was. I would like to see some that are of a slightly longer size for those of us with longer nail beds.
I have a good reason though, I started school on June 4th at our local community college so I had to get all prepared and ready for that. Things are going fairly smoothly for that. I'll be back with some product reviews from Influenster again here shortly, some "mom" products for you all so stay tuned!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08006044439701986326noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4428343842823794324.post-52499344148536724402012-04-08T07:51:00.000-07:002012-04-08T07:51:00.964-07:00Happy Birthday my baby girl!3 years ago today my sweet, silly, goofy, smart baby girl was born. Super bittersweet. Shes no longer a toddler she's now a preschooler (gah, she'll be starting preschool in September! o.O)!! I can't believe how fast these last 3years have gone. She's a super huge goof ball, she loves to cuddle and read to us, she loves writing "O's", drawing stick people, she can identify 22/26 letters, she recognizes #'s 2, 3 & 5, and knows her basic colors except green and blue which she mixes up frequently. She's in love with her older brother and wants to be like him very much, so when he's at school she'll practice writing 'letters' (how she learned O's and stick people) to be like "Shay." She's obsessed with the color pink, and can be a huge Diva, sometimes telling us her name is Princess not Kieran. Lover that baby goofball Kiwi <3

<img style="display:block;
